The Call for Abstracts Now Open
The Canadian Association of Radiologists invites all members and non-members to submit abstracts for presentation at the CAR 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, April 1-4, 2027. Review the key dates and requirements below before preparing your submission.

Submission Guidelines
Before you submit
Eligibility
- Abstracts that have been published as a manuscript prior to the submission deadline are not eligible for submission.
- Industry representatives may not submit abstracts.
- There are no restrictions on the number of abstracts an author may submit, or present.
- Work presented elsewhere may be submitted. Authors must identify the event, location and presentation date during submission; previous presentation does not disqualify the abstract.
Abstract preparation
- All abstracts must be in English and submitted through the text input fields provided in the online submission portal. All submissions must include the required sections for the selected category and should not exceed the word count limit. Submissions that exceed the maximum word count will not be considered.
- Abstracts should be proofread carefully and submitted in a publication-ready format. Changes will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
- To preserve blinded review, do not include author names, institution names, or any such information that may identify where the work originated in your abstract title, body or figure. Abstracts with identifying information will have to be re-submitted.
- All submissions must include an original figure, image or table. It will be reviewed during adjudication but will not be published with the abstract. Submissions without an original figure, image or table will be rejected.
How to submit
All abstracts must be submitted through the myAbstract online portal to be considered by the CAR ASM Scientific and Educational Competitions Judging Committee (SECJC):
- Create an account or sign in to an existing account.
- Complete all the required fields for the selected submission category and upload the required original figure, image or table.
- Submit the abstract. A confirmation email will be sent by the system.
- You may edit or delete the abstract in the portal until the submission deadline. Changes will not be accepted after the deadline.
Withdrawals after the deadline
To withdraw an abstract after the deadline, email the conference secretariat at events@car.ca and include the submitting author’s name, abstract number and abstract title.
Review and selection process
- Each abstract is reviewed anonymously by two to four judges from the SECJC.
- Judges do not review submissions originating from their own institution.
- Scoring considers relevance, novelty, scientific or educational quality, clarity and organization.
- The SECJC chair and vice-chair use the weighted average of the judges’ scores to rank submissions.
- The SECJC may move an abstract to a more appropriate category. The submitting author will be notified at the time of acceptance.
- The number of accepted presentations, oral sessions, prizes and categories may change depending on the number and quality of submissions received.
If your abstract is accepted
- All correspondence will be sent by email to the submitting author.
- The person identified as the presenting author is expected to present and must register to attend the ASM in person by the registration deadline. Presenters are responsible for their transportation, accommodations and other expenses.
- Detailed acceptance and presentation instructions will be provided by email.
- All authors listed on an accepted abstract must complete the online conflict-of-interest declaration form. Access to the form will be included in the acceptance details and instructions provided by email.
- Accepted abstracts presented at the ASM will be available through the event app, onsite display stations and a PDF abstract book produced after the event.

International Presenters
- International presenters are subject to the same in-person registration and attendance requirements as other presenting authors.
- Presenters are responsible for obtaining the documents required to enter Canada and should allow sufficient time for processing.
- CAR can provide a letter of invitation upon request; however, the letter does not guarantee that a visa will be issued and does not commit CAR to assisting with the visa application. Email events@car.ca to request a letter.
