A brief description of each submission category is provided below. With the exception of the Educational Exhibit, anyone seeking to enter a competition category should be prepared to provide an oral presentation on their work. Those seeking to be part of the Educational Exhibit competition (accepted abstracts) should be prepared to submit a presentation for judging. Awards sponsored by the CAR/CRF will be given to the top-scoring oral presentations and educational exhibits.
Submitting authors will be invited to provide their contact details, institutional affiliation, level of training and information about any co-authors (if applicable).
Please do not enter author details or any personal identifying information in the body of the abstract. The 250 words (or 330 words for Educational Exhibits) are intended for the body of the abstract, not for author details.
For more information on the abstract submission process, please read our submission guidelines and FAQ.

DEPARTMENTAL CLINICAL AUDIT PROJECT [TRAINEES ONLY]
For the purpose of the Departmental Clinical Audit Project competition at the CAR, the principal leader of this audit project must be a resident, fellow or medical student and must be mentored by a staff radiologist. All stakeholders involved or affected by a quality initiative must be part of the planning and implementation of the project. Depending on the quality initiative scope, this could include staff radiologists, clerical staff, nurses, technologists, non-radiology clinicians, laboratory staff, and others. This is important because interventions or changes resulting from quality initiatives require acceptance and support from all affected personnel. A multidisciplinary approach to clinical audit is central to finding solutions and making change.
These presentations should demonstrate a quality improvement process that seeks to improve patient care and outcomes through a systematic review of practices and protocols against explicit criteria and an explanation of the improvements made. Click here to see the criteria used to evaluate abstracts submitted for the Departmental Clinical Audit Projects. Maximum 250 words, excluding the title, subtitles, authors and audit team details.
The abstract submission must contain the following sections listed below (abstracts missing a section will not be reviewed):
- Author(s)
- Audit Title (clear title which indicates what the audit is about)
- Presenting Author's Level of Training (fellow, resident, medical student)
- Principal Location of Audit (e.g., university-based hospital, community-based hospital, community clinic, etc.) Note: do not indicate the name of the institution.
- Background and Aim of the Audit (reason why an audit was initiated)
- Standard
- Target

- Audit Team (job titles of the individuals/co-authors)
- Results (first cycle is mandatory in the abstract)
