Submitting and Updating an Abstract
How do I submit an abstract?
Submissions opening soon.
Submit using the submission portal (MyAbstract) by November 22, 2026, 11:59 pm EST.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
Yes. There are no restrictions on the number of abstracts you may submit or present.
Can I edit my abstract after submitting it?
You may edit your submission through the submission portal before the deadline. Changes are not permitted after the submission deadline.
Are late submissions accepted?
No. Abstracts cannot be accepted after the deadline because submissions are prepared and sent for review immediately afterward.
What if I did not receive a confirmation email after submitting?
Check your junk or spam folder first. If you still cannot find the confirmation, contact events@car.ca for technical assistance with the submission site.
Submitting and Updating an Abstract
Who can submit an abstract?
CAR members and non-members may submit. Eligibility and submission requirements vary by category; review the Categories page before preparing your abstract.
Can I submit work that has been presented or submitted elsewhere?
Review the previous-presentation and publication rules in the Submission Guidelines. You are also responsible for confirming the policies of any other meeting or publication and disclosing prior presentation when required.
Review and Acceptance
How are abstracts selected?
Abstracts must follow the required format and submission guidelines. Reviewers consider:
- Potential to improve service or practice
- Originality and innovation
- Organization and clarity
- Completeness of the submission
- Relevance to radiology
What happens after acceptance?
Accepted authors will receive instructions for their assigned presentation format, submission deadlines and any required templates. The presenting author must register for and attend the ASM in person.
Presenting at the ASM
What is required for an oral presentation?
Authors selected for an oral presentation will present to the category judges during the relevant competition session at the ASM. Timing, slide and upload instructions will be provided after acceptance. The top three presentations in each category will be announced during the CAR Awards Ceremony.
What is required for a short oral presentation?
Authors selected for a short oral presentation will have the opportunity to present to their peers during the program breaks at ASM. Timing, slide and upload instructions will be provided after acceptance.
What is required for an electronic poster?
Authors selected for an electronic poster will prepare a poster using the specifications provided after acceptance. Posters will be available to ASM participants through the event app and at onsite display stations.
What is required for the Educational Exhibit Competition?
Accepted Educational Exhibit authors will prepare an electronic poster for review by the Scientific and Educational Competitions Judging Committee. The top three winners will be announced during the CAR Awards Ceremony. Accepted posters will also be presented through the ASM event app and at onsite display stations.
Will accepted abstracts be published?
The original abstract submission content will be included in the abstract book produced after the meeting. Accepted Educational Exhibits may also be considered for development into an invited CARJ paper, subject to peer review.
