Session Description

This interactive session offers a comprehensive guide to academic publishing within the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal (CARJ). Participants will gain expert insights into the entire publication process—from manuscript submission to acceptance—while learning how to effectively navigate peer review and handle rejection. Led by seasoned editors and authors, the session will equip attendees with practical strategies to enhance their publishing success and confidently advance their academic radiology careers.

Target Audience

Trainees and delegates with an interest in academic publishing.

Needs Assessment

There is a significant and well-documented need for educational sessions on academic publishing targeted at radiology trainees and interested delegates. Evidence indicates that these individuals often lack adequate training in scientific writing, research methodology, and knowledge of common pitfalls in the publication process, which hinders their academic development and contributions to the field. Evidence in the literature supports these findings. Members of the RFS have also expressed interest in a session that provides both networking opportunities with journal editors, but also an opportunity to learn more about the multi-phase publication process, including ideation, ethics approval, methodology, analysis, drafting, peer review, and final publication.
